GAMMA Senior Software Engineer, Seattle
At BCG, Innovators view the world from unexpected angles. They bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every challenge they face. Andrew goes deep to understand challenges.
BCG’s methodologies have enabled me to collaborate with users more closely than ever before, which has helped my team and me rapidly shape our software platform into a valuable asset.
After four years across various teams at Amazon and two years at a data science enablement startup, BCG has been a breath of fresh air.
As a software engineer who is passionate about new technologies, paradigms, and frameworks, BCG has been a great place to grow my skill set. Joining BCG has greatly broadened my perspective and experience across a wide variety of subjects. In addition, I’ve felt actively encouraged to mentor new engineers across the team. BCG invests heavily into people development, and it really shows.
In addition, BCG has enabled my product team to work very closely with our users and clients. I feel closer to the business than ever before, and it is nice to see the direct value that our platform is creating.
Andrew has seven years of industry software engineering experience, mainly focusing on full-stack web application architecture and development. He holds a bachelor of science in computer science from Central Washington University.
We live in a world where vast amounts of data are collected and valuable business insights are hidden within the noise. BCG as a whole can provide high-level guidance and orchestrate business transformations, but it’s GAMMA’s job to identify what’s possible with the given data, and to provide clients with end-to-end, sustainable software solutions that are driven by data-derived insights.
BCG actively encourages me to set aside time for self-development and pushes mentorship programs. These aspects have really helped nurture and grow my skill set over the course of my career so far at BCG.
For me, mentoring at BCG is about helping my fellow team members develop their skills. For software engineering that means pair programming to enable junior developers to become productive more rapidly than otherwise possible, or giving “tech talks” about subject matters where I have expertise.
Innovation is breaking new ground by pushing existing technologies and platforms to their limits and really testing the capabilities of our building blocks and tools, which is something we do every day while developing a large-scale data science platform.
BCG has people from many different backgrounds and expertise areas, but one thing they have in common is that they are all extremely intelligent. When working with others: have an opinion, but also be flexible, open-minded, and willing to change.
