Takashi Mitachi is a core member of The Boston Consulting Group’s Strategy and Corporate Development practices. He became a BCG Fellow in 2014.
Takashi has deep expertise in corporate strategy, group management, and leadership team development. His fellowship focuses on the frontier of risk management, a topic addressed in his TED talk, in which he explored the three most important strategies that business leaders can learn from the countries and companies that cope with frequently occurring natural disasters.
Takashi is a core member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Geo-economics. He is also vice chairman of the Japan Association of Corporate Executives and the chair of its health care business committee. He serves as a board member of the Japan Association for the UN World Food Programme.
Takashi is the author of five books on management strategy. The most recent—Business Game Theory—was written with Noriyuki Yanagawa of Tokyo University and focuses on strategy and game theory. He is a visiting professor at Kyoto University’s Graduate School of Management.
Before joining BCG in 1993, Takashi was as a manager of corporate planning at Japan Airlines. He holds an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
