Since 2017, Brett Thorson has been a cybersecurity expert for Boston Consulting Group and BCG Platinion (an integrated part of the BCG network focused on the development and implementation of business-critical IT architecture and digital solutions, and a part of BCG X, the firm's new tech-build and design business unit). Brett has over 25 years of experience in cybersecurity program management, cyber incident response and coordination, multi-cloud security implementation, and secure architecture implementation. He is the cybersecurity lead for BCG's North America Industrial Goods practice.

Brett has been involved solving complex cybersecurity, IT, and operational technology problems in the Federal and commercial space resulting in decreased cyber risk and protection of human safety, information, and technology. Currently, he leads the identification of new business capture and delivery for cybersecurity projects within industrial goods, insurance, and operational technologies in manufacturing and the energy sector. He is also a subject matter expert advising private equity clients looking to invest in, acquire, and/or consolidate cybersecurity products and companies.

Brett is recognized for his technical expertise in security program management, threat intelligence, table-top exercises, incident response coaching, security engineering, cybersecurity due diligences, AI/ML cybersecurity, quantum computing cybersecurity, policy compliance, risk assessments, network administration, LAN/WAN design and implementation, secure network architectures, and network assessments.

Before joining the firm, Brett spent 12 years as a contractor in the intelligence community, as well as working for the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the Arlington County government, and Kimberly Clark.
