Project Leader, Athens
At BCG, Pioneers have the courage to take action on unique insights. They share and activate ideas that enable our clients to gain the competitive edge. Dimitrios empowers and inspires others.
Every day at BCG you learn something new, you meet exciting people, and you help your clients address their challenges. What else can you ask for!
I still remember my graduation day from the electrical engineering school I did my studies at. I already knew that following the path of an engineering carrier was not meant to happen! I had always been intrigued and fascinated by the world of consulting, where one engages in various types of projects and, is exposed to and trained in different business worlds.
BCG has fulfilled my aspirations to the maximum possible degree! So far, I have worked in multiple projects in Greece and abroad, tackling topics that vary from redesigning and implementing plant processes for a global industrial- goods player to developing impact studies for key sectors of the Greek economy. For me, the uniqueness of BCG can be summarized in two words: teamwork and value. BCG culture is all about teaming up and supporting the people you work with, either your BCG colleagues or the client teams. And this is how we manage to deliver value to our clients—by being in close collaboration with them, understanding their needs, and proposing solutions that make a difference!
Dimitrios holds an MSc in operations research from Columbia University and an MSc in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. Prior to joining BCG in 2010, Dimitrios worked as an analyst for an investment banking boutique in Greece and the US and as a consultant at a Greek management consultancy. During his studies, he interned as an analyst at two technical companies based in Greece and at a US import-export company.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: What I enjoy most in my work is contributing and seeing the impact that we bring to our clients! Especially for the Athens office, which operates in a very challenging environment, we need to always push ourselves and find new ways to help our clients deal with their problems. And this is exactly what we do!
Q: How would you describe the BCG community?
A: To start with, I would describe BCGers as an international set of enthusiasts who are always up for new challenges—curious people who are eager to learn new things and apply them in their daily work. The BCG community is also a network of people you can count on. Every time that I request support from our international teams, I am always overwhelmed by the number of responses I get. It feels good to be part of this community!
Q: What are some of your volunteer or charitable work experiences?
A: As part of our social- impact engagement, I had the pleasure of teaching a course in the international MBA program of the Economic University of Athens, and guide high school students during the development of their first business plans.
