Bob Ryder is a senior advisor to Boston Consulting Group. He is an expert with BCG TURN, which helps clients deliver rapid, visible performance improvements in the short term while strengthening their organizations and positioning them to win in the future.

Bob joined BCG in 2015, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his more than 30 years working in the global consumer goods sector. Most recently, Bob served as chief financial officer of Constellation Brands, from 2007 to 2015.

At Constellation Brands, Bob drove a strategic shift away from a focus on decentralized acquisition to one of profitable organic growth. During this time, the company sold significant operating units, consolidated manufacturing sites, centralized functions, and dramatically increased its focus on core brands, pricing, promotion effectiveness, and margins. The changes enabled a dramatic reduction in debt and the initiation of its first dividend. Bob also oversaw the acquisition of a major beer company, which created the third-largest beer entity in the US. During his tenure, Constellation’s equity value rose from $4 billion to $27 billion.

Prior to working at Constellation Brands, Bob was chief financial and administrative officer at IMG, a global sports marketing and media firm. During his tenure, Bob drove 12 operating improvement initiatives, which enabled a tripling of its profits.

Bob also served as CFO at American Greetings. During his three years with the company, American Greetings saw a doubling of its stock price, a significant reduction in debt, and the re-initiation of its dividend. Bob also drove a focused emphasis on the core greeting card business, divestiture of the noncard businesses, and a change in the company’s go-to-market card strategy.

Earlier in his career, Bob spent 7 years with PriceWaterhouse and held 7 positions of increasing responsibility at PepsiCo over 13 years.
