The best part of BCG is the people you get to work with every day. The level of talent, dedication, and drive is unparalleled; I am fortunate to be part of such an amazing group of people.
I came upon BCG as something of a fortunate accident. I had embarked on my PhD knowing that research was fascinating but that I didn't want to make a career of academia. I had been thinking of going into engineering and eventually shift into a business role, but a good friend who knew me well had attended a BCG event and said it could be the perfect fit. As I went through the recruiting process, the things that struck me the most were how many amazing people I got to meet and how comfortable I felt interacting and working with them. I knew BCG was the place for me.
Fast-forward to now, two years into my career at BCG, and I am still amazed and inspired by many of the BCGers I meet. I have worked on a huge range of incredible projects, from a global expansion in the food industry to a disruptive market entry in financial services to helping the new CEO of a major industrial company craft his vision for the future. Throughout everything, I have been able to grow and learn in countless ways while forging incredible relationships both with clients and colleagues.
Cory holds a bachelor’s and PhD in materials engineering from McGill University. He joined BCG in 2014 and has worked across a wide range of industries, including dairy, insurance, engineering and construction, financial services, aerospace, and mining.
One of my favorite aspects of working at BCG has been the variety and pace of projects we do. Every few weeks or months, we embark on a new challenge, a new adventure, a new opportunity to learn. I can constantly push myself to explore new industries and functions and have covered a wide range in my time here. This is a job that never gets old.
My first significant interaction with BCG was our "Bridge to BCG" recruiting workshop aimed at PhDs, JDs, MDs and postdocs interested in consulting. On the way in, I was nervous, didn't know what I was getting into, wanted to make a great first impression and not put my foot in my mouth—all the typical thoughts going through a candidate’s mind. Within the first 20 minutes (of a three-day workshop!) I got totally caught up in the case we were working on, the great people I had met, and the overall vibe of the program. My apprehension was completely forgotten and I knew that BCG was where I belonged.
I love to spend time in the mountains. I have been an avid skier my whole life and took up rock climbing in university. Every chance I get, be it on vacation or a sunny weekend afternoon, I try to get out and enjoy the fresh air. I'm fortunate to be surrounded by like-minded individuals at BCG; our office has an annual ski day every winter, and it also makes for a popular case team event!
