At BCG, Storytellers synthesize complex information and ideas. They believe in bringing the whole team together to get a broader perspective. Jason goes deep to understand challenges.
BCG has not only given me the platform to deliver impact on a global, industry-changing scale but it has also provided the support to fulfill my potential as a leader. Across the firm, and at every level, committed mentors and our apprenticeship culture have really allowed me to ‘stand on the shoulders of giants.’
As I frequently joke, I don’t have any life skills outside of consulting. My professional career has almost exclusively been in various forms of consulting—including ten years prior to joining BCG. In my prior life, I focused predominantly on the consumer sector—both fast-moving consumer goods and retail—something I continue to do at BCG.
However, joining BCG has allowed me to grow as a leader, operate globally, and work with great teams from all across the world. While I’ve always been a consultant, the opportunities at BCG are on another level. I’ve been able to go beyond just delivering fancy reports and really roll up my sleeves to lead truly transformational initiatives for our clients—many of whom are already market leaders in their respective industries. Being able to focus on “making it happen” for our clients and seeing the impact of our work—be it through our client’s financial performance, corporate culture, or even in the career trajectories of client counterparts—is incredibly exciting and energizing. And the best part is that all this happens while working with really great colleagues—goofy for sure, dorky at times, but ultimately the type of people who become your true friends long after your or their time at BCG is done.
Jason holds a computer science and economics degree from Northwestern University. Prior to joining BCG, he was a manager in the private equity and strategy practice at Kurt Salmon, focusing on the retail and consumer goods sectors.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The energy I draw from making a real impact on our clients’ most difficult and complex issues. That, and the constant entertainment that comes from being surrounded by some of the smartest and most committed, yet lighthearted and fun-loving, characters I’ve ever met.
Q: How has BCG helped you grow and succeed?
A: Hands-on apprenticeship and learning from others has been instrumental to my personal growth. Having mentors who have selflessly invested in shaping me into a stronger, more effective leader has been a humbling and indescribably valuable experience. From coffee chats to clear, actionable feedback to constant encouragement and inspiration, it’s come together tremendously.
Q: What international experiences at BCG have been the most interesting for you?
A: I spent 18 months in the UK (it was originally supposed to be 3!) leading the transformation of one of the biggest consumer companies in the world. We were able to deliver massive value for our client and stabilize its market position—all while working with some amazing, one-of-a-kind colleagues from across the globe!
