Platinion Consultant, New York
At BCG, Innovators view the world from unexpected angles. They bring creativity and a fresh perspective to every challenge they face. Jimmy is unafraid to try new things.
BCG Platinion has given me the opportunity to champion uncommon ideas and seek new perspectives. We embrace challenging the status quo.
I’ve always had a deep fascination with technology and innovation. My prior experience has primarily been within technology implementation consulting as related to enterprise resource planning systems. BCG Platinion has provided me with the opportunity to explore relevant, emerging areas of technology from a strategic lens. My projects and casework have allowed me to build upon this experience by solving complex client problems alongside a passionate team of technology experts. Additionally, the culture at BCG Platinion is very supportive with regard to ongoing growth and development, and it only continues to satisfy my appetite to learn.
Given that technology problems are often complex by nature, our team goes deep to understand the client’s challenges. We leverage our implementation experience (coupled with BCG Platinion approaches, frameworks, and methodologies) to build customized, innovative solutions that create real value for our clients. The significant impact realized from the delivery of our creative solutions is both motivating and empowering, and it’s certainly something that I’m proud to be a part of.
Jimmy joined BCG Platinion’s New York office in October 2016. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Rutgers Business School.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG Platinion?
A: I found that BCG Platinion was the perfect niche for someone of my experience and interests. Having the opportunity to leverage my prior implementation experience while building upon my understanding of both technology and strategy was (and still is) very intriguing. Given that BCG Platinion North America was relatively new when I joined, I was also very enticed by the opportunity to embrace the startup culture there and to help build everything from the ground up. It’s been extremely rewarding being able to witness and contribute to our tremendous growth over the last couple of years.
Q: What characteristics do you believe define someone from BCG Platinion?
A: With roles ranging from architects to designers, it’s no surprise that BCG Platinion teammates come from all sorts of backgrounds and experiences. One noticeable similarity that’s consistent across our team, however, is our passion for technology. It is this passion that has helped us deliver creative, successful solutions that exceed our clients’ expectations.
Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG Platinion?
A: I was very surprised by the absence of hierarchy within the teams. Regardless of title or position, all ideas are treated equally and valued as such. Having a voice at the table has empowered me to take full ownership of the projects I work on and to further contribute to my team’s success.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of the office?
A: Outside of work, I love to travel and embrace the outdoors. I’m an avid musician as well. I’ve been a guitarist since the age of 11, and I’m always interested in picking up new instruments.
Q: How would you describe the BCG Platinion community?
A: The BCG Platinion community is like a second family to me. It’s a very inclusive, supportive group. Everyone is more than willing to share knowledge and ideas with one another, and everyone’s voice is always heard. There’s never a shortage of mentors available to offer guidance, and everyone is very approachable by nature. During my time here, I’ve been able to build and foster lifelong friendships with many people of different backgrounds. These experiences have helped me shape my own perspective and outlook as well.
