Working in Oslo

BCG’s Oslo office was founded in 1996 and is today the leading premium consultancy in Norway. We serve regional and international companies operating within industries such as consumer goods and retail; technology, media, and telecommunications; financial services; public sector; industrial goods; and energy and utilities.

Work and Culture

Office Location

The BCG office in Oslo is located on Henrik Ibsens gate 4, just a stroll away from the Royal Palace and the prime minister’s residence. The office is modern and is easily reachable by train directly from Gardermoen airport, which is convenient for all our traveling consultants.

Who We Work With

We assist some of the most prominent companies in the world, helping them achieve success. Our clients operate within consumer and industrial goods, energy and utilities, retail, financial services, and technology and communications. Most notably however, we have become a global capability hub in upstream oil and gas, not only serving clients in the Nordics but throughout the entire world.

Of our ten partners in Oslo, more than half are senior partners with significant records of impact within various sectors across BCG globally. These include the worldwide consumer sector leader and the global sector leader for energy, trading, and risk management.

As part of our local social impact work, to which BCG as a firm is dedicated, the Oslo office works with the Norwegian Refugee Council.

Like the other offices in the Nordic region, BCG in Oslo plays an active part in the BCG abroad programs, which make it possible for our consultants to experience life in other BCG offices either as temporary transfers for 6 to 12 months, or for more permanent transfers from 12 to 24 months. We currently have consultants in New York, Sydney, and Zurich, as well as Kigali, Rwanda—where one of our consultants is doing a social impact secondment with the World Food Programme and UNICEF.

Our Office Culture

We believe in the importance of creativity, analytical skills, and entrepreneurship, and we look for these talents in the people we hire. Equally important, however, is our belief in a culture of diversity and acceptance. We have multiple nationalities represented in the office.

We are like a tight-knit family, and we enjoy having fun together. Every so often, we organize social gatherings, sports events, and outings, as well as an annual black-tie party, a summer party, and regular winter outings with skiing.

Welcome Letter

A decade ago, I joined BCG from another consultancy, convinced that this was where I would be offered the steepest learning curve and be able to drive impact in business and society. I was not disappointed. I cannot see that there is any other firm offering our combination of unique insight and genuine culture—for our people and clients.

Ten years on, I am proud to be part of a Nordic system that unites four very different cultures in one unique system, where lifting as a team is more important than individual performance. We are one of the fastest-growing systems at BCG, but the family feeling never disappears. Fundamentally, I am convinced that our growth comes down to our people—and the way we work together.

The environment in BCG’s Nordic offices is both stimulating and inspiring, and I continue to be in awe of the exceptional group of people with whom I work every single day. BCG continues to challenge me, even in my role as partner and managing director, and that is exactly why I keep choosing BCG as the place to develop myself and deliver impact for our clients.

It will be up to you to develop and design your own path at BCG, depending on which direction you want it to go. But whatever you decide, BCG will provide you with opportunities that you won’t find in other firms.

So, if you are passionate, driven, and curious by nature—then BCG is the place for you to be.
