Working in Toronto

At BCG in Toronto, you will be working with top Canadian and global corporations to develop solutions to their most pressing issues and make a positive difference for Canada’s future. Our office is located in the core of the financial district, the heart of business in Canada. Our office culture is an extension of our exciting and dynamic workplace with a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere.

Work and Culture

Office Location and History

BCG opened its Canadian office in Toronto in 1993, when it merged with the Canada Consulting Group. Since then, the Canadian practice has been flourishing, showing strong double-digit growth year over year.

Located in the financial center of Toronto—a dynamic hub for global culture and socially progressive experiences—BCG Canada’s headquarters boasts spectacular views of the downtown skyline and Lake Ontario. Our brand-new state-of-the-art space at 81 Bay Street is LEED certified and connects to the underground PATH system, just steps from Toronto's public transit hubs, restaurants, shops, and entertainment.

Our Work

Our Canadian practice, and the Toronto office, serve a broad mix of Canadian and global companies in consumer goods, retail, financial services, telecommunications and technology, private equity, mining, energy, industrial goods, health care, and automotive.

We help our clients solve their most challenging problems across a wide range of functional areas using a full spectrum of skills from strategy, growth, innovation, operations, people, processes, transformation, and digital, to AI and advanced analytics.

We work with many of the key corporations that drive Canada’s economy and our Canadian clients represent almost half of the value of the Canadian stock exchange (TSX). BCG works collaboratively with clients to solve their toughest problems and deliver incredible value, evidenced by the vast majority of our work coming from repeat business.

We staff our teams with experts from across Canada and around the world to always bring the best of BCG. Our consultants have opportunities to work on projects within and outside of Toronto and are encouraged to use their global experiences to enhance their local work.

Our People

Our Toronto team is a diverse group of dedicated, collaborative, curious innovators. The BCGers in Toronto come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences with representatives from almost 80 different academic disciplines—including business, engineering, fine arts, law, medicine, and many more. Altogether, our Canadian staff represents over 100 schools from around the world, hails from more than 30 countries, and can speak over 50 languages.

BCG Toronto is home to many global leaders who hold leadership positions on key BCG committees and businesses around the world.

Each year, we host many international BCGers through a variety of mobility programs. We also offer many opportunities to our local staff to spend time in other offices around the globe as well as partaking in our other global programs like the Social Impact Immersion.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

At BCG, we are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our success hinges on our ability to elevate diversity of thought and background. We make it a priority to continually identify opportunities to foster inclusion, create greater awareness, encourage education, and drive cultural changes. To this end, we offer a range of employee diversity affinity networks, have established an Inclusion Accelerator dedicated to working on fostering greater understanding and open dialogue, and have signed the BlackNorth Initiative Pledge to reflect our commitment to addressing and ending anti-Black and other forms of structural racism. We are committed to taking action and eliminating barriers and gaps faced by underrepresented groups.

Our Office Culture

The Toronto office fosters a culture that encourages professional challenges, development, and teamwork. As our office continues to grow and expand, we have been able to maintain a family feeling. Staff enjoy spending time together—whether during case work or socializing in the office. Employees can grab a quick snack or a hot or cold beverage with a colleague at one of our many cafés scattered across all three floors. They also can enjoy a game of foosball or PacMan in our lounge, or chat over drinks and pizza during our Friday afternoon schmooze.

We have many office social activities during which we come together to bond and celebrate, including our monthly office updates, regular social events, and Sunday pickup basketball games. We also operate as a tight Canadian system, regularly coming together with our offices in Montreal and Calgary.

Giving Back

In addition to the exciting and high-impact client work we do, we strive to be an integral part of the community of leaders who shape Canada's future.

BCG in Canada has a long history of giving back to our community and over the years has helped to incubate and launch CareerEdge, CivicAction (formerly Toronto City Summit Alliance), as well as TRIEC, TRRA, Luminato, and more recently the LEAP | Pecaut Centre for Social Impact.

We continue to actively support LEAP | Pecaut Centre for Social Impact to scale what works to help Canadians reach their full potential. LEAP's first cohort of charities, including SNAP, are having tremendous success, and BCG has been a critical element in the strategy development and implementation phases. Most recently through the Healthy Futures Accelerator, LEAP has selected 11 promising ventures through a partnership with the Public Health Agency of Canada to make Canada a healthier place.

We have played a pivotal role in shaping the strategies of numerous charities in Canada through our pro bono work and board participation, including charities such as Junior Achievement, and the BlackNorth Initiative. In addition, we were the driving force behind the Greening Greater Toronto initiative.

BCGers also support local charities through our Board Fellows programs, mentoring activities, fundraising events, and officewide volunteering, including our annual Day of Care and Evening of Care programming giving back to our local charities. In addition, for the last ten years we have partnered with Pathways to Education to provide mentorship to youth in Regent Park, Rexdale, Lawrence Park, and Scarborough Village.

Welcome Letter

Welcome to BCG Toronto! I am thrilled to introduce you to this special place and how it has shaped my career over the last decade.

I joined BCG in 2006 fresh out of university. I was looking for a place that would provide me with opportunities to learn and develop in a supportive, yet challenging environment. From my very first case, it was obvious how BCG’s model really had an impact on our clients. We work hard to deeply understand our client’s challenges and partner side by side with them to develop creative and robust solutions to improve their performance. Throughout, we help enable their organization with new analytical techniques, frameworks, and tools. And we have fun: getting to know our clients well and building relationships that last well beyond the project. To this day, I cherish my relationships with clients just as much as the impact we delivered together for their businesses.

Throughout my career, I have endeavoured to take advantage of all aspects of what BCG offers. For example, I spent several years in our London UK office on a mobility transfer and received support to attend Harvard Business School for my MBA. More recently, I have worked together with our Centre for Canada’s Future to conduct research focused on how corporate Canada can advance its progress with respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programming. And there is so much more that BCG and Toronto specifically can offer you to kickstart and sustain your career.

Your journey will inevitably be different from mine—that’s the best part of our firm. You can truly chart your own path and take advantage of the opportunities that suit you best.

I encourage you to discover more about BCG and everything we have to offer.
