In Canada, BCG’s business has achieved double-digit annual growth over the past decade. Nearly 90% of our work is repeat business—a testament to the results we have achieved for our clients.
For 14 years, the firm has been named among Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work. We are proud to be one of Canada’s Most Admired Cultures, as identified by Waterstone Human Capital, and for three consecutive years be recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers. Numerous external and independent organizations have also recognized BCG as an employer of choice, including Canada’s Top Employers for Young People in 2019 and Universum, which selected BCG as one of Universum’s Top 100 Most Attractive Employers in Canada for 2019.
At BCG, we bring strategic excellence and a focus on creating meaningful impact to all our clients. We not only help our commercial clients succeed but also collaborate with the public sector to address the greatest challenges Canada faces as a country and society. BCG mobilizes action and acts as a catalyst for change on critical issues such as Canadian prosperity, successful cities, attracting foreign investment, and digital innovation.
BCG’s dedication to these goals is evident in several examples:
To celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary, we at BCG in Canada decided to examine Canada’s current and future prospects. To contribute to the national dialogue, help shape the country’s agenda, and identify the greatest opportunities for Canada, BCG established the Centre for Canada’s Future in 2017. The centre is a nonprofit venture dedicated to serving as a catalyst that moves Canada forward by identifying, analyzing, and leading action on the nation’s greatest opportunities.
Created to inspire the legacy of David Pecaut, the Pecaut Centre brings the right minds together to make a real difference for Canada. The Pecaut Centre and its venture philanthropy arm, LEAP, are incubated and housed at BCG and partner closely with our firm. The Centre identifies high potential social ventures and then matches them with corporate partners to help reach their full potential and scale across the country. Over the last 2 years, LEAP has been the support partner for the Google.org Impact Challenge in Canada. The challenge grants $5 million to Canadian nonprofit organizations that are using technology to tackle the world's biggest social challenges.
BCG partnered with BMO to define a plan for revitalizing Montreal. Working in collaboration, we conducted a study of similar cities that rebounded from a decline and identified tools for enhancing Montreal’s economic performance. The joint study included a thorough analysis of the city’s economic health and of revitalization ideas from approximately 50 of Montreal’s leaders from all spheres of the community.
Throughout the world, BCG demonstrates its deep commitment to driving social impact and to changing the lives of people by contributing to the communities where we do business. Through pro bono projects and volunteer work, we drive projects by deploying senior consulting skills to tackle issues and scale solutions. Last year, over 170 BCG staff dedicated over 9K hours to social impact work in Canada, collaborating with ~30 leading local, regional, and global organizations to increase their efficiency and effectiveness—and ultimately their impact.
In Canada, these investments have included playing a critical role in helping Pathways to Education grow and bring its life-changing program to more neighbourhoods in need. Our collaboration has helped the organization boost graduation rates by 75% on average and generate a social return valued at $24 for every $1 invested.
The employees in BCG’s Canadian offices are as diverse and driven as our nation itself. We come from more than 80 different academic backgrounds across some 70 universities, represent more than 15 nationalities, and collectively speak more than 30 languages. With half of our Canadian partners being foreign-born, our staff have a diverse set of backgrounds, skills, and experiences at all levels of the organization. BCG offers a range of mobility programs, enabling employees to work at any one of our 90+ offices world-wide. In the last three years, over 80 people have transferred in/out of the Canadian offices through our well-supported mobility programs. BCG Canada’s foundational diversity is what enables us to drive insight and tackle the most pressing issues affecting our companies and country.
