BCG has Launched an Elective for Medical Students

In April 2020, BCG will be offering an elective for exceptional medical students to gain a unique insight into healthcare management. As future leaders of healthcare, you will have the opportunity to develop your business skills, and be exposed to a range of topics within medicine. Opportunities will range from gaining a further understanding of the structures and mechanics of the NHS, to leveraging the potential of healthcare technologies to redefine the provision of healthcare, and addressing the latest challenges in the pharmaceutical industry. BCG partners with leaders in industry to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities to shape a brighter, more sustainable future.

What will you do?

Over the 7 week elective, you will be equipped with core business skills, dedicated training modules and your own BCG buddy to support you. You will be assigned to a project where you will be given ownership and responsibility for your module. The module will consist of research and data analysis, client interviews and meetings etc.

What are we looking for in a medical intern?

We are looking for creative, driven and collaborative personalities with a genuine interest in healthcare management and leadership. If you think this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.

How do you apply and when is the deadline?

Applications are now open. Please submit your CV and Cover Letter before midnight August 30th 2019. Your CV should be in a consulting appropriate format and your cover letter should include your reasons for wanting to participate in the medical elective and why you would be an appropriate fit. Successful applicants will be invited to take the quantitative case and take part in 2 interviews.

What are the required criteria for applying?

  • You are in your penultimate or final year of medical school
  • You are applying as part of your medical school formal elective programme
  • You are able to spend 7 weeks with BCG
  • You have achieved a grade of 2:1 or higher in any B.Sc. / BA you have completed
  • You have an exceptional academic record with minimum of 360 UCAS points
  • You demonstrate evidence of high level success in extracurricular activities
  • You can exhibit a genuine interest / experience in healthcare management

Does this mean I can work at BCG permanently?

The medical elective does not form part of the BCG recruitment process for permanent personnel.
