Boston Consulting Group shortlisted for PinkNews Award for Business Equality

LONDON— Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was last night announced as one of ten shortlisted companies for PinkNews’ Award for Business Equality.

The Business Equality Award recognises the strides companies have taken to improve LGBT+ equality both within and outside of their organisations.

Diversity is a core value of BCG, and the company’s LGBT+ network, Pride@BCG, was founded over 20 years ago. Pride@BCG membership has nearly quadrupled in the past five years to over 400 members in 50 offices, and the network aims to make BCG the most fulfilling firm for members of the LGBT+ community worldwide to work for.

“We are absolutely delighted to have been nominated for this award and to join a shortlist of such impressive organisations,” said Pavlos Papaefstathiou, Project Leader at BCG and leader of Pride@BCG in the UK. “I have been privileged over the last few years to lead our local LGBT+ network and work closely with many members and allies to drive forward our diversity agenda, and it is great to see that work be recognised.”

Externally, BCG supports a number of LGBT+ causes, including partnering with Open for Business, a collation of global companies dedicated to LGBT+ inclusion, and INvolve, an organisation championing diversity and inclusion in business. Additionally, the consultancy was a founding sponsor of LGBT+ MBA conference, EurOUT, and GiveOUT.

GiveOut, a charity raising funds for LGBTQI causes worldwide, was created by Elliot Vaughn, global leader of Pride@BCG, and won the ‘Breakthrough Charity of the Year’ award at the 2018 Third Sector Awards. Elliot, an OUTstanding top 100 LGBT+ executive, was recently recognised with a Points of Light award by the UK Prime Minister for the work he does in this space.

Nominees were announced at an evening reception in Westminster, attended by Emily Thornberry and Michael Gove, with the London event marking the fourth in a series held by PinkNews in each UK parliament.

The winner will be announced at the PinkNews Awards on October 16th 2019.
