At BCG, Visionaries navigate complexity with ease. They use their insight and intuition to identify the solutions that will create lasting impact. Tim connects the dots to see the bigger picture.
BCG is a truly diverse place that values everyone as a person. For example, I've never seen a company more committed to achieving equal opportunities regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
I joined BCG as a senior hire, with a background in government and highly regulated industries, such as media and telecommunications. I'm now a core member of our Public Sector practice area, focusing on strategy, organization, HR, and budgets. It's very exciting to help governments achieve better results for their citizens as they strive to provide for our common future. Our global mission is to increase impact in public administration.
At BCG, I'm surrounded by other people who seek excellence in supporting our clients. I like working in diverse teams that take an interdisciplinary and often intercultural perspective. We work hard to always find a solution and to always meet our deadlines. When a successful case comes to an end, there's a deep sense of satisfaction and an even closer connection with the other team members than before. Ambition and team spirit go hand in hand at BCG.
Tim holds degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science (BSc in economics and economic history), the Harvard Kennedy School (master of public administration), and the École Nationale d'Administration (diploma in public administration). Before joining BCG, he worked with Bertelsmann, Random House, ProSiebenSat.1, Vodafone, and the State Chancellery of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?
A: BCG is a truly global company, with one large network of people and knowledge. We can draw on our legacy as the world's leading strategy consulting company. At the same time, BCG invests heavily in people and innovation. We are a magnet for outstanding talent all over the world.
Q: What is something that has surprised you about working at BCG?
A: When I joined BCG, I thought that people who are driven by ambition tend to be fiercely competitive. However, cooperation is deeply ingrained in the DNA of BCG. The secret behind BCG's impact is the case team and our ability to work across boundaries.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do outside of the office?
A: Like most people, I enjoy nature and sports. I'm also interested in history and politics. I currently do some voluntary work for the upcoming quincentenary of the Reformation in 2017, a global festival of liberty.
