BCG Omnia - Solution Business Director, Munich
At BCG, Advocates are thoughtful and engaged. They listen closely because they believe that the best solutions can be discovered in the most unexpected places. Markus challenges the status quo.
The best part of working at BCG is that there are no bad ideas within BCG. What I care about most are the people I work with.
My background is in physics and economics. I joined BCG after my PhD in physics with a passion for problem solving and driving new ideas. Similar to physics, which is all about problem solving and describing the solutions in a structured way, I was able to continue my passion within BCG. BCG has exposed me to various exciting business problems and has allowed me to explore new disciplines—such as software development and product management—besides the consulting work.
Furthermore, BCG has given me the opportunity to work in different places around the globe, with very different people, and to drive new ideas. The freedom to drive my own business ideas in a startup-like environment, with quick and fast decision making and fantastic colleagues, still inspires me every day.
Markus holds a PhD in physics and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Heidelberg.
I enjoy the fast decision making that characterizes my job, and the fact that there’s little-to-no bureaucracy.
I’ve been able to take part in revamping BCG’s most important software product and set it up for scaling in a startup-like environment.
I’d be working in a startup, or would be building my own startup.
Be yourself, and stay yourself.
I’d find a way to reallocate resources so that no one has to suffer from hunger.
