Francesco Is a Collaborative Pioneer

Principal, Dubai

At BCG, Pioneers have the courage to take action on unique insights. They share and activate ideas that enable our clients to gain the competitive edge. Francesco empowers and inspires others.

A BCG mentor told me, 'Once you have set a target, you just go and get it. Forget about any distraction or obstacle on the path.'

In Francesco’s Words

I graduated in business administration with a master’s degree in management and a sincere passion about exploring the world from different angles, including geographies, cultures, and other perspectives. As a student, BCG was a target employer for me. Once I received an offer of employment, it became the starting point for a series of achievements. Thanks to BCG I have had the opportunity to work in very different contexts in terms of practices, teams, clients, and regions, including spending time in the start-up landscape between my internship and the associate period. I have learned at least one important lesson per day, and I have had the opportunity to meet brilliant colleagues and new friends.

I believe the passion about life and work, the concentration of talent, the global footprint, the continuous push out of the comfort zone, and the attention to its people makes BCG a unique place to work.

About Francesco

Q: When did you know you belonged at BCG?

A: For some reason, I have always aspired to join BCG, since the first years of university. I never considered applying to any other consulting company; it was a make-or-break situation. Since then, several episodes reinforced this feeling, like when I go to my former university and present on behalf of BCG, or when I get this special feeling of pride when talking with friends, listening to their experiences and comparing them with mine. It feels really good to think, “I’m a BCGer.”

Q: How have you benefited from a mentoring relationship at BCG?

A: I believe there is a mentor in every BCGer. I've received useful advice talking to everyone, every day. Every BCGer carries amazing life and work experiences that you can learn from. Aside from this, I would say there are a couple of people I consider my mentors, and I seek their advice every time I am thinking of taking a career-related step and even steps in my personal life. How do I benefit from this? As an example, my decision to transfer to the Dubai office can be traced back to a conversation with one of these two mentors.

Q: What groups or organizations have you gotten involved with at BCG?

A: During my time at BCG, I have had the chance to get involved in other groups that diversified my experience. As an example, for three years I have been a volunteer coach for Business@School, an initiative promoted by BCG to coach a team of high school students and guide them to analyze balance sheets, prepare presentations about corporate strategy, and develop a business idea and a business plan. I started this experience fascinated by the opportunity to teach something to someone, and I finished it discovering that I took out of it much more than I gave in terms of learning.
