BCG TURN Named a Market Leader for its Results-Driven Approach to Turnarounds and Restructuring in Leading Analyst Report

In a Study of 26 Market Leaders Across Four Segments, ALM Judges Boston Consulting Group a Leader in Financial Crisis Management in the Category “Management Consulting”

BOSTON—ALM Intelligence, which acquired the legacy Kennedy consulting research unit in 2015, and is a renowned industry analysis firm with a strong buy-side and sell-side audience, has published a report listing the market leaders in financial crisis management. ALM analyzed and profiled 18 market leaders across four market segments for ALM Intelligence Pacesetter Research: Financial Crisis Management 2020. BCG TURN, a special transformation, turnaround and restructuring unit within Boston Consulting Group (BCG), was named a market leader.

According to the report, “ALM Intelligence combines qualitative and quantitative research methods to identify the top professional services firms which are moving the ‘services’ needle to solve clients’ challenges and support their business needs. ALM Pacesetters are identified and evaluated using five core criteria: business model, value proposition, service delivery, client enablement, and brand eminence.”

Firms from five professional services segments: consulting, multiservice providers, law, financial advisory, and strategic communications were judged on how they became market leaders in financial crisis management, and how they rose among market leaders to redefine their roles in this space.

The report cited BCG for its proactive management of the financial crisis for its clients, saying, “With an eye to free cash flow as a driving metric, BCG deals primarily with the board and C-Suite to create stability, execute short term remediation actions (whose success will fund further transformation later), and establish a road to comprehensive change services span liquidity management, cash flow improvement, financial restructuring and refinancing, insolvency solutions, and urgent cost reduction, and often include services from adjacent practice areas such as Corporate Development, or BCG’s Transaction Center.”

The report went on to stress the above-mentioned strength, saying, “The primary thrust for BCG in addressing crises is financial, but the firm understands real financial transformation requires parallel operational change, and so BCG engages the client organization at all levels to get input and buy-in and includes services such as stakeholder management.”

ALM also praised BCG for working with clients at all levels and for its emphasis on the digital component of restructuring, saying, “The digital component to restructuring projects (which extend to the client organization’s supply chain and customer interfaces as well) derives from BCG’s digital transformations unit, which is supported by several centers of excellence as well as Lighthouse, BCG’s high frequency data and analytics platform used for trend analysis.”
