BCG Amsterdam Recruiting Process

Your online application allows you to apply for positions in all of our offices. You may apply to up to three offices simultaneously, and your application will be sent automatically to those offices you specify.

Most BCG offices require fluency in the local business language. Please check the language requirements on the local web pages of your preferred office(s). For the Amsterdam office it is mandatory to be fluent in English. If you want to do an internship at the Amsterdam office, it is required to speak Dutch. If you are selected to interview with BCG Amsterdam, please be prepared for an assessment and two rounds of interviews, consisting of an Online Case Experience, verbal case interviews (both rounds), a written case (second round) and a personality interview (second round).

Online Case Experience

The first part of the application process is the Online Case Experience. This is a 30-minutes online case experience that you can take remotely from the comfort of your home/university. It is a business-case related test and therefore an opportunity to better grasp the kind of issues we address at our clients and test a number of key skills such as quant skills, data interpretation, calculations and business logic. If you pass the test you’ll be invited to take part in the two case-interviews of the first round.


This interview format consists of discussions around your achievements and impact followed by a verbal business case study, with time to ask questions to your interviewer at the end. The business case study style is conversational. Your interviewer will explain a business problem being faced by a client. You will be required to structure your thinking, ask questions and solve equations in order to come up with key recommendations for that client. Besides the case-part there will also be a personality fit-part because it is very important for us to get to know you as a person beyond your professional and academic background.


You will be provided with a packet of documents relating to a business problem. You will have two hours to work on your own, analyze the problems being asked and the data provided, in order to prepare a short presentation with your recommendations. You will then be joined by your interviewer and asked to present your recommendations supported by the slides you have created from your findings.


The last part of the second round is the personality interview. This interview will be based on the results of a personality test you will make at home before your second round. The interview last 45 minutes and is with a recruiter.
