LGBT Network

With a perfect score of 100, BCG has been named one of the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” for ten consecutive years.

BCG is a place where I can be myself—where being gay never feels like an obstacle and, in fact, gives me access to a large network of exceptional individuals all over the world.

I have found BCG always thinks about what's right for the individual. I benefit from apprenticeship on my projects, mentorship in my local office, and the additional advantage of the support the LGBT Network.

LGBT Network was quick to include me in the community. Through this group, I have made connections in Boston and beyond.

Global Services

We focus on supporting LGBT individuals during the recruiting process, throughout their careers at BCG, and after they have left the firm through alumni networking. We actively recruit top LGBT talent and provide a supportive environment for every employee at our company to become a leader for positive change. BCG’s LGBT Network (LGBTN) offers extensive career-development support, mentorship, and networking opportunities—including an annual conference—to connect with and learn from fellow LGBT professionals. Whether you choose to be public or private about your sexuality, BCG provides the support you need to grow as a person and as a professional.

At the local level, there are a variety of activities, from affiliation events such as happy hours to career coaching, education, and community service.

BCG has long led by example in our efforts to create an inclusive environment for our LGBT employees:

  • In 1994, we were one of the first companies to offer benefits to employees with same-sex partners.
  • In 1998, the LGBT Network (LGBTN) was formed. LGBTN is open to all BCG employees, with three levels of membership based on each member’s personal level of comfort with being “out.”
  • In 2011, BCG introduced tax equalization for health care benefits paid to the partners of same-sex employees. This offer applies to same-sex partners, regardless of their marital status, in states such as New York that have legalized same-sex marriage. Following this rollout, in 2012, BCG added gender transition support for transsexual employees to every employee's health benefits package.
  • In 2015, BCG joined 378 other organizations in an employer amicus brief to the US Supreme Court, urging for full marriage equality in the United States.
  • In 2016, Tom Wurster, former senior partner and cofounder of BCG's LGBT Network, founded the first LGBT Executive Leadership Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business
