There is no one Asian woman. Women in Asia control a smaller proportion of spending than their Western counterparts. Women focus more on personal care and household products, and less on financial products.

Yeonhee Kim

Yeonhee Kim is a retail sector lead in Boston Consulting Group’s Consumer practice for the Asia-Pacific region. She is the first woman in Korea to have been promoted to the position of partner at a global business consultancy. She came to BCG in 2010 and has more than 20 years of consulting experience in such practice areas as retail, consumer goods, and financial institutions.

Yeonhee showcased her focus on the female Asian consumer during her 2014 TED Talk, during which she revealed her three keys to success for Korean global leaders and explained why business leaders cannot always follow the rules they learned in business school.

Along with leading BCG's Retail practice in Asia, Yeonhee serves as external advisor to the Korean Financial Services Commission and the Ministry of Strategy and Finance.

Before joining BCG, Yeonhee worked for Bain & Company and Anderson Consulting.
