Before joining BCG, I had the opportunity to gain experience in different industries. I worked in the M&A division of a large fuel company, an HR division in the automotive industry, an advertising agency, and a law firm.
At BCG, I use my previous work experience in our clients’ projects. The incredible value of strategic consulting lies in the possibility of moving best practices among different sectors. In my nine years here, I have had the chance to support clients from the financial-services, telecommunications, and fast-moving consumer goods industries in the areas of sales management, postmerger integration, and HR.
Agnieszka graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics, majoring in finance and banking, and from Warsaw University, majoring in law. She also studied strategy and management at the BI School of Management in Oslo.
Q: Why did you choose to work at BCG?
A: I decided to apply for a job at BCG for two reasons. First of all, BCG gave me the possibility to gain unique experience, which, in turn, guarantees very fast development. Second, it is a great opportunity to work with fascinating people, both at BCG and at the client.
Q: Why is BCG a good place for a woman to work?
BCG employs talented people regardless of their sex. We value the fact that at BCG the contribution that women make to the team includes not only their intelligence and ambition but also something more extraordinary—their ability to build lasting relationships. A lot of our clients request that their project teams should include as many women as possible.
BCG supports our development. Thanks to a clearly defined career path, women have the opportunity to grow and climb the career ladder as quickly as men. Working at BCG also gives you a rare chance to get interesting experience in sectors traditionally dominated by men, such as mining.
What I really appreciate about working at BCG is all the events that support women’s integration and the exchange of experience. Once a year, all female consultants in Europe meet to exchange best practices. We also organize an integration-training meeting with all women from CEE. Women@BCG organizes a lot of local initiatives—workshops, meetings with a stylist, and others.
Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to work at BCG?
A: Before applying for a job at BCG, it is important to get a lot of different experience. BCG values the ability to look at problems from different perspectives, which is why each internship, traveling experience, or hobby adds value to your future job in consulting and will definitely be appreciated in the recruitment process. During your job interview, openness and trying to find common sense solutions come in handy. The person interviewing you will not be looking for learned patterns but will want to discover your unique way of thinking.
