Lucie Is a Collaborative Pioneer

Consultant, Brussels

At BCG, Pioneers have the courage to take action on unique insights. They share and activate ideas that enable our clients to gain the competitive edge. Lucie empowers and inspires others.

The magic happens outside of your comfort zone, and that’s exactly where you’re often positioned as a consultant at BCG.

In Lucie’s Words

As a generalist, variety in everything I do is important for me. Therefore, I chose to study business engineering and to work in management consulting. Next to that, I love traveling and discovering new cultures. Thus, BCG and its many international opportunities attracted me. Finally, a challenging environment is what keeps me going.

From the very first contact I had with BCG, I knew this was the company I wanted to work for. Every single person I have met during recruiting (and beyond) at BCG made me feel part of the company. Later, during my first project at BCG, I discovered some specificities of BCG’s approach—namely output-driven work, pragmatism, and ownership—that I really appreciated.

About Lucie

Lucie has a degree in business engineering with a specialization in operations management from Ghent University.

Q: What is a typical day like for you?

A: There is no such thing as a typical day at BCG; this is what makes the job so exciting. One day at BCG can be a mix of data crunching in Excel, preparing a compelling presentation for the client, getting challenged by a BCG partner, and presenting your insights to the client. However, you can be sure that every day at BCG will be challenging and contribute to your personal development.

Q: What advice would you give to someone who wants to work at BCG?

A: Prepare well for your case interviews and motivation questions, but don’t overdo it and enjoy the recruiting interviews. Recruiting is a two-way process, where you, as a candidate, also need to discover whether BCG is the right employer for you and whether you would like to work with the person in front of you.

Q: What skills or talents do you hope to develop in the next few years?

A: I would like to develop the skills to move to the next career level at BCG, project leader. The two main skills I still need to work on are project management and client development. Next to that, I love everything related to people and, therefore, I would like to get to know more about coaching.
