Wendi Backler is a Partner & Associate Director at Boston Consulting Group. She specializes in intellectual property (IP), open innovation, and innovation networks. Wendi helps clients expand their business and fuel growth through innovation and technology.

Wendi leads BCG’s cutting-edge Innovation Analytics Insight Center, which uses state-of-the-art proprietary technologies to connect clients to external innovation, ideas, technologies, organizations, and talent. Wendi is responsible for the center's team of analysts and for the development of its proprietary visualization tools for networks, analytical models, and methodologies.

She has worked on IP and innovation issues with more than 300 clients in the health sciences, high-tech, automotive, materials, banking, industrial goods, energy, public-sector, and consumer goods areas.

She spearheaded and leads BCG’s use of big data, advanced analytics, and visualizations to help clients map their innovation ecosystems, identify emerging technologies, and place future technology bets.

Wendi is also a cofounder of BCG's Technology Ventures business, which helps clients identify opportunities to commercialize underutilized IP and technology assets outside their core business. Outside of BCG, Wendi has lectured and written on the subject of open innovation and innovation networks.
