At BCG, Seekers go deep into the challenging issues our clients face. Their curiosity empowers our teams to facilitate change and add value to society. Chris finds clarity in a complex world.
I expected to find a "typical" BCGer. What I found instead was diversity—united by a desire to create lasting impact for our clients.
My background is in science. I have always been curious; I love driving deep into complex problems and breaking them into their component parts. I came to BCG with a desire to apply my scientific approach to a broader range of problems and with a more immediate sense of impact.
BCG has delivered on these dimensions and more. On my last project, we were tasked with solving a tough issue for our client. Within three weeks, we were reporting out directly to the CEO of one of the largest biotech companies in the world. My impact—which was previously measured in years—is now measured in weeks. For me, BCG represents an unparalleled platform for growth.
Chris received his BS from Stanford University and his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His graduate work focused on understanding mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in bacteria.
We like to say there is no typical day at BCG, and that's because our work is driven by the most pressing problems faced by our clients in that moment. On one day, I could be interviewing experts in rheumatology and estimating the value generated by a new product introduction—and the next, I could be presenting recommendations to our working team and flying out to a recruiting event on campus. I enjoy the diversity that each day brings!
I have always had an interest in global health, and on my first case I traveled to South Korea and worked for an international health care nonprofit. During the three-month project, we helped our clients implement a new strategy to focus on high-burden diseases where they are most likely to have an impact. This case allowed me to leverage my scientific training in a completely new context—and challenged me to expand beyond my comfort zone.
I spent my first two weeks at BCG in a "business essentials" training with a number of other advanced-degree consultants from across the US and the world. As a result, my network already spanned multiple continents from day one – and has only grown since!
