Commenting on January Retail sale, Stefan Salzer, partner and MD of Boston Consulting Group South Africa, says the textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods sector has suffered a reduction in spend.
Retail sales, measured in constant 2012 prices, declined 2.3 percent year-on-year in January.
This is according to Stats SA, which on Wednesday released retail trade figures.
According to the stats agency, negative annual growth was recorded for retailers selling textiles, clothing, footwear and leather goods, household furniture, appliances and equipment and general dealers.
