Working in Washington, DC

BCG's Washington, DC, office has enjoyed continuous growth since opening in the US capital in 1996. The office's proximity to the Northern Virginia and Maryland business corridors and to the federal government provides a wide range of client opportunities for consulting staff.

Work and Culture

History and the Area

At BCG in Washington, DC, we help our clients win. We set direction, build advantage, drive change, and deliver results. We are committed to ensuring that we are a company where smart, talented people thrive. Our people are defined by diverse interests and experiences, and the city lends extremely well to that environment.

The Washington area is an international crossroads: a vibrant and cosmopolitan place to live, with numerous cultural, culinary, and recreational opportunities. The Kennedy Center, the National Gallery, and the Smithsonian are all just minutes away. Are you an outdoors person? The scenic beauty of Chesapeake Bay and Virginia's Skyline Drive are just a few hours away by car—and city adventurers can stay closer to home, hiking at Great Falls or even kayaking on the Potomac in Georgetown. The region is home to teams in every major professional sport and to a world-class restaurant scene, not to mention being at the forefront of national politics.

Who We Work With

Thanks to a broad range of expertise in our office, we have a diverse client portfolio that provides both a cushion against business cycles and the opportunity to work across many industries and functions. Our recent client roster has included industrial goods, consumer goods, retail, technology and communications, health care, and financial services companies. The range of services we provide includes general strategy, postmerger integration work, organizational change, and corporate development, among others.

We also partner regularly with public sector clients to support a variety of projects and causes, including public education, global public health, and environmental conservation. The office's consultants have worked with clients in numerous locations throughout the country, as well as in Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America.

Our Office Culture

The Washington office has enjoyed continuous growth since its opening, and today our staff includes individuals with a broad range of backgrounds. You're as likely to bump into an atomic physicist or molecular chemist in the hallway as you are to encounter someone with an MBA or JD. The office has a high-energy environment and everyone shares a commitment to serving their clients' varied needs. The staff is equally committed to enjoying a balanced life, recognizing the importance of sharing time with family.

We engage in a wide variety of pursuits, both inside and outside of BCG, yet we have all decided BCG is the right place for us: the right place to work with passionate colleagues and clients and the right place to build professional networks and lasting friendships. As members of the local community, the Washington staff is involved in an active outreach program that includes sponsoring less fortunate families during the holidays, supporting food and clothing drives, participating in the National Race for the cure cancer fundraiser
