Alastair Flanagan is one of The Boston Consulting Group’s most experienced Senior Partners. Since joining the firm in 1987, he has worked on over 350 projects with a wide variety of clients in many geographies and sectors. These include public institutions, private sector companies, and social impact entities, and cover the full spectrum from large global MNC’s to small entrepreneurial tech startups. A number of these are among BCG’s largest and most sustained relationship clients.

Alastair has deep expertise in strategy development, transformation, complex change management, operational effectiveness, and capability building. In the private sector this expertise is particularly related to health care, financial services, industrial goods and airlines companies. In the public sector, Alastair has broad experience working with many departments and “arm’s length bodies,” including Finance/Treasury, Education, Justice, Defence, Business, Transport, Health, Social Care, Borders, Welfare, Research, International Development, Agriculture, Marine, Environment, Security, and Trade. Alastair has also done significant work with chairmen, non-executive directors, and boards, on issues of performance assessment and strategy, and has supported a number of multinational not‐for‐profit and social impact organizations.

Alastair has held many leadership positions within the firm in the areas of people and practice development. He is currently Head of the Public Sector Practice in London and is a member of the Public Sector Global Leadership team.
