According to GfK, the 2016 audience of the Russian Internet remained at the same level as in 2015 – about 70.4% of the population, or about 84 million people. One of the reasons for the growth slowdown (the market was on the rise just a few years ago) is the overall economic recession, experts say. 'The recession resulted in diminishing consumption of Internet services by consumers, and hence decreasing investment, including the Internet development investment', says Ekaterina Sycheva, principal at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
