In his guest column for Forbes, BCG’s Grant Freeland writes about the end of traditional management. He references a BCG survey that found that only one in ten Western nonmanagers aspire to become a manager. Despite declining interest in managerial roles, Freeland argues that the company of the future will continue to need managers. However, he asserts that managerial responsibility will shift away from top-down decision-making and towards promoting teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation.
