The Hamburg office, which was opened in 1994, has been located in a prime city location in Ballinhof, directly on the Alster Lakes, since the summer of 2021. Behind the historic façade of the impressive and extensively renovated building you will find our spacious modern office and meeting rooms.
Our office reflects the international flair that Hamburg has always been known for: people with different career paths and from all parts of the world working for international clients from many industries. It’s not for nothing that Hamburg is known as the gateway to the world.
Many adjectives have been used to describe Hamburg, but boring is not one of them. From the harbor to Reeperbahn (nicknamed “the most sinful mile”) to the Alster and Elbphilharmonie, it offers many amusements. In addition to chic shopping streets and the modern Hafencity, Hamburg also has a large alternative scene with colorful cultural events such as concerts and street festivals. Both the North Sea and the Baltic Sea are close at hand—and the Elbe’s beaches also invite you to relax. If you want fresh breezes blowing around you every day, simply head to the harbor. Hamburg has it all, and it’s happening around the clock. It's no wonder that Germany's second-largest city attracts so many tourists. Hamburgers take it in stride; after all, they are used to coexisting with people from all over the world.
And it’s not just the city on the Elbe that offers an international experience, our office on Ballindamm is for many BCGers their gateway to the world and at the same time their safe home port. From here, they travel to our clients around the globe, and to here, they return "home" again and again with pleasure. With approximately 150 employees, Hamburg is considered a rather small BCG office and as such offers a warm and familiar atmosphere. Original events such as the Schlagermove or our traditional Thanksgiving dinner have given us Fischköppen many unforgettable moments. We especially enjoy meeting in our social area, where we have lunch, play table football, and enjoy our Friday night drinks together.
With our new office, we have moved even further into the center of the Hanseatic city. I enjoy the view of the Alster Lake. For me, the water in the city is what makes Hamburg!
With the most relevant topics for the world of business, BCG always keeps its finger on the pulse. That makes the work here unique.
From a re-hire's perspective, I can say that BCG has become fascinatingly diverse over the last 30 years. This is reflected in the possible career paths, in the topics (such as climate change and renewable energies), and especially in the people. Hamburg, the gateway to the world, with its office on Ballindamm is a great example of this.
