At BCG in Montreal, you will be joining a rapidly growing office with a strong family culture. Located in one of North America's most dynamic cities, a hub for business and culture, our Montreal office is an exciting and diverse workplace with a multilingual, inclusive, and collaborative culture that embraces all new staff from day one. We work with top Canadian leaders to make a difference at the regional and national level.
BCG in Montreal is in the heart of the city’s downtown and features stunning views of the Saint Lawrence River and the South Shore Hills. The office is in Atrium le 1000, one of the most prestigious buildings in Montreal—a vibrant city that offers incredible culinary and cultural experiences.
BCG in Montreal serves a broad mix of national and global companies with strong local expertise. We work with clients across a wide variety of industries, including industrial goods, consumer goods, retail, financial services, private equity, telecommunications and technology, energy, health care, and artificial intelligence (AI). We help clients improve their operations, people, marketing and sales, strategy, and digital adoption. As a fully bilingual office, we are able to serve our clients in their preferred language.
BCG works collaboratively with clients to solve their most challenging problems and deliver great value. That the vast majority of our Canadian revenue comes from repeat business is proof of our success.
We staff our teams with experts from across Canada and around the world to always bring the best of BCG. Our consultants are given opportunities to work on projects both within and outside of Quebec and are encouraged to use their global experiences to enhance their local work.
Our Montreal team is a unique group of entrepreneurial, international, and multilingual consultants. Our team comes from a variety of backgrounds, countries, and degree programs and we work together to drive change in Quebec, Canada, and the world. Our entire team is bilingual in both French and English—a key asset in our city.
The Montreal office has always been committed to diversity equity, and inclusion. Our success hinges on our ability to elevate diversity of thought and background. We actively hire from a variety of countries, experiences, and degree disciplines. We also have 50% female staff across all levels of seniority. In addition to our local staff, each year, we host many international BCGers from a variety of mobility programs. We also offer many opportunities to our own staff to spend time in other offices around the globe.
We make it a priority to continually identify opportunities to foster inclusion, create greater awareness, encourage education, and drive cultural changes. To this end, we offer a range of employee diversity affinity networks, have established an Inclusion Accelerator dedicated to working on fostering greater understanding and open dialogue, and have signed the BlackNorth Initiative Pledge to reflect our commitment to addressing and ending anti-Black and other forms of structural racism. We are committed to eliminating barriers and gaps faced by underrepresented groups.
Our office environment is collaborative, highly collegial, and egalitarian. Consultants at all levels shape the office culture and contribute to the development of our business. Additionally, with many of our professionals being parents, the atmosphere of genuine care and consideration extends not only to our staff, but their families, as well.
Our many office gatherings include our annual office retreat (in the Laurentians, Eastern Townships, or Quebec City), team-bonding events over the summer, and participating in BCG in Canada events with our colleagues from Toronto and Calgary throughout the year.
Being located in Montreal offers us the opportunity to be the middle ground between Europe and North America, welcoming diverse individuals from a wide variety of both English and French backgrounds, and bringing together the diaspora of sectors.
At BCG Montreal, we have a strong sense of purpose to drive important charitable causes forward. Our office has a long-established history of giving back to our community.
A few years ago, BCG and BMO Financial Group developed a ten-point action plan to improve Montreal's vitality, prosperity, and quality of life. As a result of this work, we were the leading force behind Je Vois Montréal, a project designed to drive municipal economic prosperity. BCG also collaborated with Finance Montréal, a cluster of the major financial players active on the market, with the goal of developing Montreal’s reputation as a global financial hub.
In 2018 we helped support the creation of the AI Supercluster, Scale AI. This initiative helps foster Canada’s AI ecosystem, working to improve Canadian businesses with a focus on climate change. Recently we partnered with MILA, Haverford college, and Comet.ml, to launch CodeCarbon. CodeCarbon is a is a lightweight software package that seamlessly integrates into Python codebase and estimates the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by the computing resources. It also advises developers on how they can reduce emissions by selecting their cloud infrastructure in regions that use lower carbon energy sources.
We also work to support local charities through our pro bono work, Board Fellows programs, and mentoring activities. Building on our national partnership with Pathways to Education, we launched and are running a local mentorship program with Pathways and YMCA in Verdun, Pointe-Saint-Charles, and Lachine. We host annual office-wide volunteering and actively engage in community programs. In addition, many of us give back to the community by sitting on local boards, starting and developing new community programs, and much more.
Hard to believe, but over 20 years ago, I was in a very similar position to many of you. I had recently finished my MBA at INSEAD and was deciding the next steps in my career. It was at this time, that I began the recruiting process at BCG, and I ran into two gentleman whose advice fueled my drive to join BCG. These two leaders were none other than David Pecaut and George Stalk, two BCG legends who revolutionized not only BCG, but consulting as a profession, and society on a broader scale over their terms. They inspired me and encouraged me to make my mark and leave a legacy. Over the years I have found several ways to do that, and the one I am most proud of is opening our Montreal office.
In hindsight, their inspiration completely transformed my life. Building our presence in Quebec and our office in Montreal has been very fulfilling. I care deeply about each and every person in this office, having played a key role in hiring them and watching them grow and develop into great leaders. We do very exciting work here in Quebec and make a big difference to the local, provincial, national, and global community through our stimulating client and social impact efforts.
In the same way David and George offered me advice, I carry it forward by encouraging you to follow your passion. BCG is, bar none, one of best places to learn and grow in a safe environment. Not only that, every person in this office will be an advocate for your development and will offer you their support. If you enjoy being stimulated and learning from your experience, and if you know how to not only work hard but have fun, I cannot think of a better place for you.
Warm regards,
Marc Gilbert
Managing Director & Senior Partner
