Senior Partner & Managing Director


Joachim Stephan leads The Boston Consulting Group’s media industry activities in Central Europe and is a member of the firm’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) and Marketing & Sales practices.

Throughout his consulting career, Joachim has advised some of the world's top telcos, cable multisystem operators, media conglomerates, pay TV operators, TV broadcasters, magazine and newspaper publishers, online-gambling providers, private-equity investors, and public-sector organizations.

Joachim leads BCG’s engagements with numerous large international clients in the cable and media industries. His expertise centers on growth strategies and mergers and acquisitions, postmerger integration, large-scale transformations, digital transformation and diversification, and go-to-market optimization.

Joachim has worked with TMT companies in more than 15 countries. He has particularly deep experience in Germany, South Africa, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. He is also a member of the German Federal Government’s Committee on Internet and Digital Society.

Before joining BCG, Joachim was a junior partner at Oliver Wyman (formerly Mercer Management Consulting). Previously he worked for Robert Bosch in Kuala Lumpur, as well as Daimler Chrysler and Bertelsmann in Germany.
