Alvaro Vaca is a core member of Boston Consulting Group's Financial Institutions practice and leads Payments and Transaction Banking in Western Europe, Africa, and South America.

Over the course of his consulting career, Alvaro has worked with a range of financial services companies to help them address issues related to strategy, business development, and mergers and acquisitions. In his client engagements, he draws on his deep experience in the banking industry working in areas such as digital strategy, insurance, payments and credit cards, advanced analytics and big data and operations.

Alvaro has led numerous projects focusing on commercial strategy and large-scale business transformation. He has developed capitalization and restructuring plans, revenue enhancement programs, and price optimization strategies for many different clients, and he also has experience in divestitures and sell-side valuation.

Before rejoining BCG in 2017, Alvaro was chief innovation, operations, and technology officer for a digital challenger bank, and he previously served as chief business development and marketing officer at a Spanish bank. He first worked for BCG from 2000-2011.
