Test the Maturity of Your Digital Operations Program

March 15, 2019

Digitizing manufacturing operations is imperative—yet immensely difficult. A company needs to upgrade its capabilities in the areas of change management, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic investment-making. It must also evaluate and implement a daunting array of new technologies. It’s no surprise, then, that companies that have tried have seen mixed results.

BCG conducted a global survey of 250 executives and managers from large manufacturing companies in order to understand their progress in adopting digital technology in operations. The survey’s participants represented a broad array of manufacturing industries: aerospace and defense, automotive, chemicals, consumer and retail, energy, engineered products, metals and mining, and pharma. Applying the survey results, as well as our experience supporting companies, we’ve identified 13 dimensions that separate the leaders from the laggards in digital operations.

In this interactive you can assess the maturity of your company’s digital operations program in terms of these dimensions. You’ll learn how your digital maturity compares with that of surveyed companies, as well as your expected success rate and savings and growth impact from implementing digital technology. In addition, you’ll learn the top industry uses of digital technology and the range of savings or growth that surveyed companies have achieved.
