Bakatjan Sandalkhan leads the Energy practice for Boston Consulting Group in Istanbul. He is also a core member of the global Energy and Corporate Development practices.

He joined the firm in April 2016, bringing to BCG more than 18 years of experience in the energy sector in Turkey and the region. Bakatjan has worked with leading international and Turkish energy companies with a focus on market entry strategy, investment portfolio analysis, oil products supply and trading, renewable and distributed energy (mainly solar PV), market modeling, and retail energy strategy.

In addition to many consulting projects, Bakatjan has set up and managed a European standard commercial business in Turkey, handling retail sales, origination, trading, portfolio and risk management, and commercial asset optimization as a vice president and board member at a leading European utility.

He has contributed to the design and implementation of the Turkish power trading market and gas trading platform for a Turkish gas hub. Bakatjan also has extensive experience working with domestic energy companies and with government entities on issues related to regulation and policy development.
