Carsten Schaetzberger joined BCG in 2003 and spent time in BCG’s Cologne and Detroit offices before moving to Stuttgart. He is part of the global leadership team for the firm’s automotive sector and has led a number of large-scale turnaround and performance improvement projects. He also leads BCG’s global work in off-highway vehicles and automotive product creation.

Carsten has worked extensively with automotive clients, advising them on a wide range of topics in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

Carsten has led multiple transformation programs for automotive OEMs with performance optimization along the full value chain (fixed-cost restructuring, product-cost optimization, research and development, sales, and after-sales). In recent years he has also had a strong focus on digital transformation, including digital business building and capturing efficiencies through advanced analytics.

Prior to BCG, Carsten worked as a researcher at Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering. He also worked at TÜV Rheinland Japan, and on high-precision measurement techniques for BAE Systems in the UK.
