Managing Director & Partner
Shalini Unnikrishnan is a core member of the Social Impact, Global Advantage, Health Care, and Public Sector practices at The Boston Consulting Group.
Shalini focuses on social impact at BCG, particularly at the intersection of private sector with public and social sectors. She works with private sector clients on their total societal impact, developing strategies to maximize their social impact while creating business value. She also works with public and social sector clients on private sector engagement. Shalini’s experience includes supporting the UN Mission for Ebola Emergency Response in West Africa; working within presidencies in Africa as an advisor on economic development; supporting global health and education coalitions; and designing a public-private partnership for a large consumer company in agriculture.
Shalini has taken leaves of absences from BCG (2009-10, 2012) to serve with former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair's Africa Governance Initiative (AGI). She was embedded within President Kagame's government in Rwanda to support private-sector development, and she was a day-to-day advisor to President Banda in Malawi. Shalini now serves on Mr. Blair's AGI US Board of Directors.
Shalini is a recent Presidential Leadership Scholar, a collaboration effort led by US Presidents Clinton and Bush. Prior to joining BCG, she was an analyst with McKinsey & Company and an operations director with Core Concept, a health care technology start-up.
