Matthias Kruehler leads Boston Consulting Group’s Energy practice in Central Europe. He is dedicated to helping the energy industry achieve a more sustainable and safe future, and enabling it to have a lasting impact. He has led engagements for several large-scale European clients, successfully helping them master energy crises, secure supply, and adapt to dynamic trends such as the transition to net-zero. He also contributed to the fundamental transformation of the German utility market.

Matthias also serves as the global people chair for the Energy practice, helping talented colleagues at all levels unlock their full potential. He particularly focuses his efforts on building a solid pyramid for the Energy practice and strengthening bonds across seniority levels and geographical borders.

In addition, Matthias leads the firm’s post-merger integration (PMI) work in Central Europe. In times of shifting market dynamics, and political and social crises, Matthias has successfully led several transactions including identifying targets, deal closures, and integrations.
