Maurice Berns joined The Boston Consulting Group in 2001. He is a core group member of the firm’s Energy practice and is the Global Leader of BCG’s Oil and Gas Sector. Maurice previously led the UK Energy practice. Prior to being based in London, Maurice worked in BCG's Kuala Lumpur, Paris, Mumbai, New York, and Houston offices.

Maurice has worked in the energy markets since 1993, focusing on oil and gas across the value chain, and particularly downstream and trading. He has helped leading companies in the oil, gas, power, and renewables sectors, especially in strategy, operational efficiency, organization and digital.

At BCG, Maurice has led projects on refining and marketing portfolio; performance improvement in downstream and upstream operations; strategic reviews of country participation strategies; and assessment of individual downstream product businesses, such as aviation fuels, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and marine and bunker fuels.

Before joining BCG, Maurice worked with an independent energy trader in Germany and spent several years with Wintershall in Argentina. While with Wintershall, Maurice worked in oil and gas marketing and later in business development, including planning and commercial implementation of LPG and pipeline projects.
