Gregory Rice is a member of the Corporate Finance & Strategy practice at Boston Consulting Group and co-leads the firm’s Shareholder Advisory & Activism effort. He brings the perspective of an investor and capital markets leader to BCG clients who are facing complex shareholder issues.

Gregory has worked with BCG clients across industries globally, including technology, consumer discretionary, consumer staples, industrial goods, health care, real estate, and media, on shareholder-related issues. In his recent projects at BCG, he has worked with clients in support of their engagement with prominent activist investors, strategic investor messaging, and assessment of activist vulnerability and investor perception across the US, Europe, and Asia.

From 2005 to 2018, Gregory served in a senior investment and operating capacity at several alternative asset management firms, including as a long/short equity portfolio manager at multi-strategy manager Kellner Capital, LLC and a Member of the General Partner of global long/short manager Knott Partners, both based in New York. Gregory was also a managing director of Graham & Dodd Fund, LLC and managing director and COO of multi-manager investment firm Mezzacappa Management, LLC.

Prior to the investment management industry, Gregory was a managing director of Lazard LLC, where he led the firm’s Equity Sales & Trading department from 1994 to 2005 after joining the firm in 1987.
