Rajive Mathur is a leader within Boston Consulting Group’s Technology Advantage practice area. Rajive has spent more than 20 years in senior operational roles in both large public sector and private sector organizations. A consistent theme that Rajive brings to his work is how large organizations can use the notion of digital to deliver better services, at scale, for customers as well as employees. Before joining BCG, most recently, he was Chief Information Officer & Deputy Commissioner Systems at the US Social Security Administration, where he led IT Operations and Transformation/Modernization efforts in order to deliver on the agency’s mission to serve millions of beneficiaries and recipients. Prior to the SSA, Rajive led enterprise-wide digital transformation for the IRS, where he had day-to-day responsibility for the web service channel via IRS.gov as well as other citizen-facing services.

During his time serving in the public sector, Rajive also provided government-wide leadership as co-chair of the Strategy, Services, and Infrastructure subcommittee of the CIO Council, a select IT policy-making group of federal CIOs. As a founding board member of the Technology Modernization Fund, he provided oversight for tech transformation efforts across federal agencies based on White House priorities for modernization. Prior to his government roles, Rajive held leadership roles at Fidelity Investments and America Online, where he helped shape the digital experience for millions of users.

At BCG, Rajive’s work with clients is informed by his expertise in digital transformation issues, ranging from leading large-scale strategic change, omnichannel service delivery, cybersecurity, product management and product development, digital identity, customer experience, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and IT operations. Rajive has deep experience in the complexities of running large public sector organizations including the roles of funding, governance, audit/oversight, leadership, and human capital in the context of using digital/technology to transform citizen- and employee-facing services.
