Abhay M. Varma is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Consumer practice with 20 years of experience in consumer facing sectors (retail, fast-moving consumer goods, travel). His primary focus is on value creation and capability build.

Within the Consumer practice, Abhay has deep expertise in cost- and growth-based transformations. Abhay is a topic leader in customer-led reinvention (loyalty, pricing, and omnichannel strategy), digital transformation (personalization, advanced analytics, and merchandising uplift), operating model redesign (role of the center, digital acceleration), and operations (cost-out, procurement, category management, workforce management). In several instances Abhay has also been deployed to clients as the Chief Transformation Officer.

Prior to joining BCG, Abhay spent ten years in industry in several P&L and strategic roles, notably at Unilever and Coles Group (upon Wesfarmers acquisition). This enabled him to have a global career, working in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, and US.
