Jan P. Heck is a Managing Director at BCG Platinion and leads BCG's Tech & Digital Advantage practice for insurance across Central Europe and the Nordics. For almost 20 years, he has advised C-suite executives at large multinational insurers and financial institutions on the toughest calls in enterprise technology: where to place a multi-billion-euro IT budget, how to redesign a target operating model for 15,000 people across 60 countries, when to walk away from a failing core-system replacement, and how to turn generative AI and agentic platforms from a slide into a P&L line.
His work spans the full IT value chain—strategy, architecture, sourcing, and delivery—with a particular focus on core system modernization (policy administration, claims), large-scale transformation and turnaround, and IT cost and productivity benchmarking. He has led programs including a global SAP S/4HANA rollout spanning 60 countries and an end-to-end IT carve-out of a life and pensions business, and has stepped in to recover troubled transformations for clients across Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Australia.
Before joining BCG, Jan worked in Deloitte's CIO Advisory practice in Germany and the US.
