Joel King is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Consumer and Industrial Goods practice areas. His work focuses on operations and large-scale change in distribution businesses. He is an expert on supply chain dynamics for retail distribution companies, specifically in food service and grocery distribution. Most recently, Joel has been concentrating on post-COVID supply chain dynamics and recovery paths.

In his work in food service distribution, Joel has worked with clients on vendor and inbound, warehousing and labor management, inventory and replenishment, last-mile delivery, and network design topics. His recent cases include network design, service level and inventory optimization, and post-merger integration. Prior to joining the firm, Joel’s work as a nuclear submarine officer took him across the US and throughout the world. He is part of the Veterans@BCG leadership team and has also taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
