Karl Johnson is a leader in the Marketing, Sales & Pricing practice at Boston Consulting Group, as well as a globally recognized expert in personalization, marketing technology, and data-driven marketing. He heads BCG’s digital growth accelerator for the Financial Institutions practice, and has led digital marketing and personalization transformations for some of the largest brands in financial institutions, retail, biopharma, and automotive.

Karl has 20 years of experience in consulting, marketing, executive leadership, and P&L management roles. Originally a software engineer at Microsoft and previous CTO of a successful technology startup, Karl also maintains a technical skillset in marketing technology, agile software development, advanced analytics, and AI and machine learning. Prior to coming to BCG, Karl was Managing Director for the Americas of a boutique personalization agency. He has previously worked at Microsoft, Avanade, and Booz Allen, as well as co-founded the hospitality personalization startup Venga (now a part of Priceline’s OpenTable).
