Katsufumi Jou was appointed a senior advisor to Boston Consulting Group in 2025. Prior to this, he served as Director General of the Pharmaceutical Bureau, the Pharmaceutical and Food Safety Bureau, and the Health Policy and Information Bureau at the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).
Katsufumi joined the former Ministry of Health and Welfare after graduating from the University of Tokyo and held various leadership positions in the Health Insurance Bureau, Health Policy Bureau, and Pharmaceutical and Food Safety Bureau. He also served as Deputy Director-General of the Healthcare and Medical Strategy Office at the Cabinet Secretariat and as an Executive Director of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED).
