Martin Tonko is a core group member of the Industrial Goods practice at Boston Consulting Group, and a member of the Tokyo leadership team. He joined the firm in 2021. Martin works with global OEMs and suppliers from Japan, as well as foreign corporates in the Japanese automotive industry and industrial goods sector.

Since joining BCG, Martin has led the regional carve out of captive truck financing operations for integration into a global commercial vehicle maker, supported new business creation for an innovative global tire maker, and led the joint venture setup and value creation planning for a large Japanese industry conglomerate.

Martin has a pragmatic, collaborative, and effective approach to driving the client agenda in projects and transformation programs.

Prior to joining the firm, Martin was at Roland Berger in Germany, Japan, and Southeast Asia, where he worked on automotive engagements, particularly distribution-related topics with OEMs and automotive suppliers, as well as on other industrial goods topics in B2B electronics, battery materials, and construction materials.
