Michael Brent directs Boston Consulting Group's Responsible AI program, leading a team that examines the impacts of AI and generative AI systems on individuals and societies, identifies the ethical risks associated with those impacts, creates strategies that aim to mitigate those risks, and ensures the firm's AI and GenAI systems are built and deployed responsibly.
Michael is responsible for program implementation, including developing documentation standards, refining internal processes and policies, providing expertise and guidance to multidisciplinary stakeholders, facilitating meetings with senior leadership, and working with clients around the globe.
Prior to joining BCG, Michael worked in the Office of Responsible AI at Microsoft, and was Data Ethics Officer at Enigma Technologies, Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Denver, and cofounder and Faculty-at-Large of the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research. His work has been published and cited in academic journals and discussed in popular publications like Protocol, WirtschaftsWoche, and New York Magazine.
