Michael Zhang is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Financial Institutions practice. He leads retail banking, business banking, and payments for the West Coast. Mike is the recruiting partner for associates in the Bay Area and Asian Diversity Network senior sponsor for the West Coast system.

Mike has extensive experience in corporate strategy, organization and operating model transformation, digital capability development, and sales and marketing effectiveness.

His recent client work for the firm includes designing and implementing a customer-centric operating model to optimize marketing and go-to-market activities for a large retail bank, developing a three-year TSR acceleration strategy and operating model design for a regional consumer and commercial bank, reimagining a B2B customer onboarding journey and rewiring supporting finance, risk and technology processes for a large wholesale bank, and conducting primary research exploring the financial needs of small businesses and how banks and software companies are evolving business models and value propositions to meet those needs.

Prior to joining the firm, Mike worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley.
