Associate Director, Social Impact
Ulrike Garanin joined The Boston Consulting Group’s Munich office in 1999 and worked from 2001 to 2002 in the Washington, DC office as part of the firm’s Global Ambassador Program. She is an expert principal in BCG’s Social Impact Practice Network and a member of the firm’s public-sector and education topic group. She is also BCG’s regional-topic expert for community and economic-development work in Europe.
Ulrike began her time at BCG working as a core member of the Industrial Goods practice on international projects in the industrial goods, automotive, and energy industries.
She then helped a major US not-for-profit organization implement a critical strategy shift and subsequent reorganization. In 2007, Ulrike led the BCG team that developed the Joblinge concept, a social start-up that aims to fight youth unemployment, together with the Eberhard von Kuenheim-Foundation of BMW. Currently Ulrike is CEO of the Germany-wide Joblinge social franchise, reaching more than 6,500 underprivileged youths in 28 German branches.
Before joining BCG, Ulrike held internships at Roland Berger and Partner in Kiev and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in Bonn. She also worked on an economic research project for the DFG (German Research Foundation) in Hamburg.
